Description
The position of Traffic Control Foreman is a regular full-time, hourly entry level supervisory role that is responsible for leading and managing a traffic control crew to ensure safe and efficient work zones for utility construction projects, with a focus on telecommunications. This role oversees daily operations, traffic control planning, crew safety, and compliance with all applicable regulations. Additionally, this position serves as the main point of contact between field crews, utility teams, subcontractors, and public authorities. This position works out of the Statham, Georgia office and reports directly to the assigned Construction Manager. This position works a schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position will have regular travel around the state of Georgia to perform field-based traffic control operations at various job sites. As a condition of employment, this position may be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as operational business needs require along with overnight travel to other job sites.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of MUTCD standards and state/local traffic control requirements.
- Develop, implement, and adjust traffic control plans (TCPs) to meet local, state, and federal regulations. Adapts traffic control plans to changing field conditions.
- Maintain and track traffic control equipment & inventory and proactively reports repair or replacement needs.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and enforce safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Monitor site conditions and make quick adjustments to maintain safety and efficiency.
- Leads by example in promoting a strong safety culture.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the traffic control crew on active job sites.
- Observe and assess team performance in the field to ensure readiness and consistency.
- Train new crew members on proper procedures and safety standards.
- Holds crew members accountable for performance and conduct.
- Communicates professional & effectively with internal teams, utility crews, subcontractors, and public authorities.
- Complete and submit accurate daily reports on job progress, incidents, and compliance both on-time and complete.
- Maintains records required by utility companies and permitting agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification:
- Completion of a High School Diploma or attainment of a General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D).
- Valid Class C License (CDL) license (preferred) with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of traffic control experience, with at least 1 - 2 years in a Foreman or Supervisory role.
- Valid flagger certification (ATSSA or equivalent).
- Experience supporting telecommunications utility construction projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MUTCD standards and state/local traffic regulations.
- Preferred certifications include both OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
- Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment (“PPE”) when on job sites or other locations as directed.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds without an accommodation.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in warehouse, yard and outdoors jobsites for up to a 12-hour shift.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a commitment to safety & quality.
- Ability to work outdoors with exposure to outdoor conditions, heights, confined spaces, and active equipment under varied weather conditions that include humidity & seasonal temperature changes.
