- Description
This position works a schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. This position will have regular travel around the state of Georgia to perform field-based aerial operations at various job sites. As a condition of employment, this position may be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as operational business needs require along with overnight travel to other job sites.
- Responsibilities
- Assist with installation and removal of aerial fiber optic and coaxial cables on telephone poles.
- Support framing, cross-arm installation, and hardware assembly.
- Handle and stage wire, cable, insulators, and pole hardware.
- Assist from the ground or bucket truck with pulling, lashing, and securing cables.
- Guide equipment operators during pole placement and material handling.
- Perform pole hole preparation and backfilling.
- Maintain organized staging areas and material inventory.
- Load and unload trucks with materials and equipment.
- Perform site restoration and general cleanup.
- Support traffic control setup as needed.
- Follow OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Participate in daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and tailboard meetings.
- Maintain safe minimum approach distances near energized lines.
- Wear required PPE at all times.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Represent the Company professionally while on the road and at job sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Position Requirements
- Completion of a High School Diploma or attainment of a General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D).
- Valid Class C Driver’s License (CDL) license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
- 1-2 years’ experience in Aerial operations in the Telecom Utility industry (or) direct experience in a similar industry.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout a 12-hour shift.
- Must be capable of working on uneven, sloped, or rough terrain for extended periods.
- Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, stoop, and twist repeatedly while performing construction tasks.
- Must be able to work at heights when required, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, telephone poles and accessing elevated work platforms, in full compliance with safety procedures.
- Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment (“PPE”).
- Ability to work near energized utility lines.
- Able to work in a warehouse, material yard and outdoor job-site environments under varied weather conditions that include humidity & seasonal temperature changes.
