  1. Description
The position of CDL Construction Truck Driver & Laborer is a regular, full-time hourly non-exempt role responsible for supporting construction operations by safely operating CDL-required vehicles (including dump trucks, flatbeds and water trucks) and performing skilled and general labor duties on job sites. This role is responsible for transporting materials, supporting underground and overhead utility installations, maintaining site safety, and assisting crews in meeting production and quality standards. This position works out of the Statham, Georgia office and reports directly to the Warehouse and Inventory Control Manager.
This position works a schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. As a condition of employment, this position may be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as operational business needs require along with overnight travel to other job sites.
  1. Responsibilities
Truck & Equipment Operation:
  • Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles including dump trucks, flatbeds and water trucks to perform load runs, material deliveries, and transport equipment.
  • Pick up and deliver materials, tools, and equipment from vendors, job sites, and yards.
  • Secure and inspect loads to ensure safe transport.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including fluid checks, tire inspections, and cleaning.
Construction Labor Support:
  • Perform general construction labor tasks such as site cleanup, material handling, equipment setup, and assisting skilled trades.
  • Assist with trenching, conduit installation, backfilling, grading, and site restoration.
  • Set up traffic control devices when required.
  • Assist Linemen, Construction Laborers, and Foremen as directed.
  • Perform general site cleanup and material handling.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance needs. Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles.
  • Maintain required driving logs and comply with all OSHA, DOT, and Company safety standards..
  • Participate in daily job hazard analysis (JHA) and tailboard meetings.
  • Represent the Company professionally while on the road and at job sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
  1. Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification:
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or attainment of a General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D).
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • 1-2 years’ experience in warehouse operations including pulling & staging orders for delivery.
  • Experience with safely operating Class A vehicles and delivering to job sites in & around metropolitan areas with heavy traffic.
Qualifications & Characteristics:
  • Ability to pass both pre-hire and ongoing DOT physical & drug screenings.
  • Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment (“PPE”).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds without an accommodation.
  • Ability to climb in and out of delivery vehicles & safely operate for up to a 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in warehouse, yard and outdoors job-sites for up to a 12-hour shift.
Work Environment:
  • Able to work in a warehouse, material yard and outdoor job-site environments under varied weather conditions that include humidity & seasonal temperature changes.
